Cranberry and Apple Puree

This recipe is suitable at the start of weaning, after first tastes are accepted. This dish provides antioxidants from the cranberries and vitamin C from the apple. It’s also a good source of fibre which is needed for healthy digestion.

  • 1 apple cored peeled and diced
  • 1 tablespoon dried cranberries
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Unsalted butter


  • Mix the diced apple, cranberries, 1tbsp water and cinnamon and together in a saucepan.
  • Add a knob of butter, cover and cook on the hob for 15 minutes.
  • Check the apple is soft and if so blend for 2 minutes with a stick blender.
  • Note: you can plump up the dried cranberries a little first by soaking in hot water for an hour or so before starting the recipe.
